Political Cause Du Jour:

Hey all, if you're a US citizen over 18, please check out the following petition to save the pit bulls of Denver.

They are executing family pets who have not done anything wrong. The practice is additionally descriminatory, and frankly, unfair, and cruel.

The spread of such laws might occur if not stopped here. What's next? All rottweilers? All dobermans? All large dogs?

I found your link after I commented on ubejeep's journal, probably at the same time as you. I heard about the pit bull nazi extermination in denver- that's so sick. this organisation educates people about responsible dog ownership. It's the people, not the dogs. http://www.badrap.org/rescue/index.cfm
Anyway, thanks for the petition. I'm signing.
I added you to my friends list, hope that's OK.

Sort of related:

Did you know, that in the last two years a law has passed where it's been declared illegal to eat a pet animal?

Mrf, every time there's a dog attack over here, the debate over having certain breeds outlawed or destroyed gets raised. I'm sick of it. It's not actually the breed that's the problem, it's the owner's responsibility to make sure their dog is trained and knows the difference between savaging a person and a toy.

Course, people are generally too stupid to realise this.

This is why I'm a cat person. Cats are evil, they train the people to do their bidding.

AMEN on it being the owner. And even then, sometimes you don't get a terrible dog. But if you've got one, and it hurts someone, yeah, it's you. You could have taken it to training. You COULD have learned to properly train it, instead of being abusive or stupid. You could have properly housed it so it didn't get out. You could have properly leashed it. Especially if male, you could have had it's little balls clipped. Bet you didn't, though.

I am also a cat person, but this disgusts me. I've known very sweet dogs who were 'bad', or 'dangerous' breeds (That poor abused dobie from next door that we'd take in and feed comes to mind. Thing curled up in my LAP. In a tiny little ball...it was so sweet. It thank god wound up with a rellie of the person who couldn't care for it, being spoiled for the rest of its life), and I knew a girl who had her face ripped off by a cocker spaniel (She was just climbing the stairs, in her own home), and I mean that literally.
